After the scotch egg and sausage roll disappointments at Borough Market, Teko, still not feeling 100%, wanted to wait somewhere, anywhere, that was quiet and far away from the crowds. Just a short distance away from the chaos, like a beacon he saw two words across the street that resonated – Honest Burgers. With additional assurance from Google, we jaywalked across and were quickly rewarded with a corner window table that not only gave us privacy, it was quiet enough for us to actually recover and have a decent conversation while waiting for our friend, Pieterjan. There really is a Santa Claus, and he works in a burger joint.Nursing a chocolate shake while studying the menu, it turned out that each Honest branch had a signature burger, and in this case they had the Market that came with Spanish chorizo strips from Brindisa and London raclette cheese from Kappacasein, both extremely popular vendors in the Borough. Not that I needed to but I was glad to find out that I didn’t have to queue up for either one in the market. Even if I was already a bit stuffed from the chocolate milkshake, which incidentally was also better than the one at Shake Shack, I knew what I had to get. At £12, including fries, it urned out to be a very satisfying burger, enough to fortify us for a nice walk through the city.
