Baroness, author, traveler, played by Meryl Streep in Out of Africa. I’d never heard of Karen Blixen until recently when Teko mentioned that he wanted to see her house in Rungsted, conveniently next door to the hotel we were staying in, and wondering if any part of it was used in the film. Not inclined to go inside the museum we went instead around the Rungstedlund estate, which turned into a leisurely nature walk through forests, fields, and if a bit eerily chanced on the site of her grave located under an imposing tree. Incidentally, my phone switched itself off at the moment I wanted to take a photo of her grave site, something I’m only now realizing as possibly more than a coincidence as my phone didn’t show any recent issues, and may I add hasn’t reoccurred since then. I hope Baroness Blixen didn’t mind us coming to see her even if only accidentally.
