It’s been a slow start to 2019, so slow that the first social weekend of the year happened just today close to the middle of January. With recent dental visits putting a serious crimp on our bank account and a lack of motivation to go anywhere due to mostly sad weather, it’s bound to happen there’ll be few inclinations to go out and spend, though something as simple as meeting friends over brunch should, knock on wood, hopefully stay put and keep me sane this winter and the rest of the year.
Luckily, the first event of the year turned out to be a delicious repast of very nicely done pancakes from Mook, a place I’d only barely glanced at on the occasions we drove by De Clercqstraat in Amsterdam West, but which proved to be a winner on this depressingly rainy Saturday. The tiny tables would have immediately turned off Teko but the friendly enough staff and the great food were enough to satisfy my cravings for a decent brunch. If only this place was closer to our apartment.
