After a full day and a half, we have recovered from France.
Having spent yesterday, Pentecost Sunday, doing nothing – not only by choice, most shops and the gym were closed anyway – it was up to us to make the most of today, another religious holiday, thank god, before going back to work tomorrow. Pentecost Monday – yes that’s a thing over here.
With unusual and long forgotten dedication, I egged Teko to go to the gym with me today, something even I haven’t done in months. It wasn’t as excruciating as I remember, it wasn’t too busy considering the long weekend, and after a quick hour we still had the rest of the morning to do anything productive. We decided to go to our local garden center to get some plants – because we’re borderline seniors that way.
Perhaps it was too early for a lot of people, or maybe they’re mostly at the beach – it was a nice 23 Celsius today – but the usually busy garden center was also relatively uncrowded, which gave me a lot of breathing space to wander around and see how I could liven up our ‘sky garden’ aka our balcony. I bought my very first red rose plant, which hasn’t bloomed yet, as well as my first lavender plant that’s going to be a constant reminder of our recent France trip. As for the rest, with Teko’s much appreciated input, I think we came out unscathed. Considering the rose plant came with rose plant thorns, that’s a huge success. May they live long and prosper.
Have also just now discovered an amazing series called The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, which literally is marvelous and can’t take my eyes off of. Madmen but funny, and beautifully done. There goes the rest of my day.
