After an interesting introduction to the highs and lows of Kasteel Engelenburg, we had a chance to have a taste at what our staycation offered, first at the hotel café where I had the most elaborate apple pie ever created, and then dinner a few hours later at their gorgeous winter garden restaurant where the service sadly was missing that oomph factor but where the food was, to my vision and tastebuds at least, flawless. Thank goodness for that as the whole Relais et Chateaux experience in Brummen would have been regrettable. Much like the view from the restaurant, things we’re looking bright for the Kasteel.
