As I anticipated and as what always happens when we’re on holiday, we had our first argument on this trip. Naturally it had to occur in the first ten minutes of a five-hour drive from Vergoncey in Normandy to Pessac in Bordeaux, which made the journey seemingly much longer and a very quiet one. Details aren’t as important as the fact that we’re very different people culturally and psychologically who have banged heads on many occasions, and it’s a wonder we’ve made it this far.
In any case, the passing scenery isn’t much to write about but it’s a gorgeous day on the road, not much traffic, and we’re making good time. Enough perhaps to make it for lunch in Bordeaux. Hopefully being surrounded by vineyards will make us feel better.
