ROODEN HOED | Antwerp

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Since we were close to the Belgian border, it made sense to max out the day with a visit to nearby Antwerp. Just because life’s too short.

Interesting that the drive there took much longer time than the time we actually spent in the city though the thought of standing in the middle of the Grote Markt on a whim gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. It was overcast the entire time – thanks Buienradar for the ‘forecast’ – but luckily didn’t rain so right after a late dessert lunch at the near-empty Rooden Hoed close to the square we walked a bit, took a look around, snapped a couple of pics and decided to head back.
On a side note, my favorite Antwerp furniture store and urban wasteland, Habitat, is having a huge clearance sale – a hugely permanent, final one from the looks of it. It was a humongous store in the beautiful and historic Stadsfeestzaal along the always busy Meir shopping street, though it looks like none of these made any difference in the end. Seems we’ll have to look for our next sofa somewhere else.
