We are staying at the beautiful Hotel Royal Savoy in Lausanne and lucky for us we have a reservation as they were sold out, we were told. Unfortunately they also said we couldn’t get the room we booked, which was a lake view room and so offered us either free breakfast for the two nights we were staying or a transfer to a better room on the second night. Ugh. I recall a time working the front desk of a boutique hotel in DC and hearing about those moments when guests are given this kind of bad news that was usually done by the late shift staff, a one person team – a guy named Jeremy – at that time. How he did it is a wonder as I would dread it every single time if it was me. Luckily I never had to and got out of there prior to moving to Europe.
We’re out of the hotel the entire day today and I’m quite curious to find out how they’ll make up for the shortcoming. Let’s see if it’s a pleasant surprise.
