Thank goodness we chose to stay where we did as Manarola, the other town I was considering as our base, was like a poorer version of Riomaggiore – crazy, smaller, and less pretty – though it did have one good thing going for it which was Nessum Dorma, a restaurant north of the harbor that was beautifully situated on a high terrace showing all the great angles down below. After a quick trip through the main street and back, we ventured north and basically followed the crowd going up a gradually elevating road until we reached the restaurant and called it home for the next several hours. The pina coladas were great as were the small bites that apparently were free, which came as a nice surprise though I did feel bad we couldn’t finish it all. Despite an attempt to stay until sunset, we decided to huff it back to home base and call it a day. Looks like we’ve covered all the interesting sites in Cinque Terre with one full day to go so it’ll be interesting to find out what’s going to happen tomorrow.
