Our first attempt at a meal in Berlin wasn’t too successful – the restaurant was open but not the kitchen, which I found strange – but we were given directions to the establishment next door that turned out to be quite atmospheric and worthwhile. I was taken aback by the sign that seemed to indicate the place has been around since the 1300s but I think that refers to the local imbibe. There was no room for dessert but still, the place was impressive enough for our first meal of the trip.
