Work brings me back to the city of light this week and I’m a little ambiguous about it. Thalys left cloudy, drizzly Amsterdam as scheduled and without incident, though a bit too crowded for my taste on a Sunday morning. It was a bit annoying to have to sit next to a passenger that kept audibly exhaling and clearing her throat, contending myself with the notion that she was disabled in order to keep zen, and my ever-present anxiety kept my imagination running with thoughts of getting into an altercation with anyone on the train, and so couldn’t completely relax. Thankfully Teko was able to drop me off in quiet style at Centraal Station this morning and in the end I was able to reach Gare du Nord and afterwards the hotel fairly mentally intact. I’ve been here more times than I can count so I’m hard pressed to think of something interesting to make the most of the day but there are worse problems surely. Oh, what to do, what to do on a cloudy but warm Sunday afternoon in Paris.
