A friend’s friend’s husband called it a really beautiful place – mentioning beautiful a few more times after that. When I did finally see it I have to say he was right, both times I was there. The first time was close to the end of the day when it was blissfully calm with barely anyone there, and the second time on a gorgeous, sunny morning to see the Book of Kells. While I thought the Book of Kells was a bit overrated, the Long Room, the central square, and the history underpinning it all were impressive. If I ever had a choice for university I’d surely welcome the chance to go there in a heartbeat.
