PLANT CHRONICLES | Passiebloem

The first time I saw it in our garden center, I was mesmerized. It was one of the most elaborate and beautiful flowers I’d ever seen. The fact that a tropical-looking flower could grow in these parts was amazing but the fact that I could easily pay for it, bring it home and enjoy it for myself made it doubly exciting. Naturally I chose one that was yet to bloom, after much attention and care was given to it, looking forward to the moment it would come to life. Three weeks and many watering cans later, the first of hopefully a dozen passion flowers has revealed itself. My summer garden is looking quite promising.
