Our last dinner in Madrid could not have been any more unique. Our meal of seafood tapas, sausage paella, deep-fried shrimp, sangria, and mojitos at the Mercado de San Miguel was nothing short of satisfying and couldn’t have been any cheaper – at €1 a pop for the tapas, it was easily the best deal of the trip. The tapas alone could have made for a complete meal but after seeing the paella stall and some other carts, we couldn’t help but extend our waistline a bit further. The only thing that worried me while eating, and during the entire trip to be honest, was that we ate so late at night. My rule of not eating anything after 8 p.m. was completely pushed aside and will surely haunt me for weeks (or months) to come. Five seconds on the lips, five months on the hips indeed.
