South Africa, eat your heart out.
Of all places where we could see animals in their ‘natural’ environment, Netherlands would have been the last place I imagined. Zoos and animal parks here are enviably well-maintained and if I were anything less than human, I’d consider myself lucky to be in one. The idea of a safari outside of Africa though was unbelievable until my partner and I decided to trek all the way down south to see it for ourselves. True enough, it lived up to expectations and even did African safaris better in one aspect. Not only did we get up close and personal to some of the animals, we got to do it in our own car, the highlight of which was being within breathing distance of giraffes, which understandably caused a bit of a traffic jam on the road. Hakuna matata indeed.
