Baby It’s Warm Outside

It must surely have been the hottest day so far this year.

If memory serves, yesterday was the first time we hit the high-30s and it sure felt like it. Not only was it warm outside, it was almost unbearable in, as well – matter of fact, five minutes after taking a shower, I felt like I needed another one. We had to close off the living room curtains lest it feel like a veritable greenhouse, and even leaving the doors and windows open didn’t help much. While I complain a lot about the often grey, rainy weather, the heat yesterday reminded me a lot of why I left the Philippines for the U.S. and now Europe. Even at 6 p.m. we were still in the 30s.
It did mark the first time in maybe two years that my white cotton pants came out of the closet. A mini-event in itself, I can only wear this during summer and to places where shorts are a bit iffy. Coupled with black flip flops, I was more than ready for the once-in-a-blue-moon tropical summer day. Suffice it to say, I’ll take cooler weather anytime.
