This is one of our heavily subsidized lunches at work. With the pork and beef sausages and potato pancakes, it had a very western theme that day. Despite some frequent misses and the occasional bitching, in sharp contrast with my unnecessarily picky colleagues, I still feel quite lucky to be eating regularly like this. I’m pretty sure I’m traumatized by the food situation with my last job where not only was there no subsidy, there wasn’t actually any food – apart from that rare fruit basket at the start of the week. Not to mention I’d be eating alone for most of the time. Over here I get to enjoy a decent meal with some awfully nice people, every weekday of the year, alfresco if I’m a lucky bastard. It certainly pays to work for a company that’s number one.
