Þingvellir National Park | Iceland

If I ever come back to Iceland again it’ll have to be during the summer. If it wasn’t for the bleak coldness I would have enjoyed the amazing view so much more, but as it happened my preoccupation with the freezing temps was enough to distract from the natural beauty of the place. I couldn’t figure it out at first but eventually discovered that this is where the North American tectonic plate brushes with the Eurasian plate. Standing next to it, it certainly makes all of us – and our troubles – look extremely petty and insignificant.
