Nobody forgets their first time and this was bound to be no exception. It was still relatively sunny when we got to the Strokkur geysir where it almost immediately shot up the moment we came. Nothing premature as we were told it happened every 4 minutes or so. It took a few more bursts, and at the risk of draining my camera for the rest of the day, before I was finally happy with the experience. For a time it was like waiting for Godot but in the end it became one of the highlights of the trip. If anything, it appears that Mother Nature’s sense of humor is properly intact.
