Note to self – if I ever visit Iceland again, be sure to bring a better camera as, apparently, the locals like their restaurants nearly pitch black. The first couple of restaurants we went to were probably designed for blind people, it was so dark my camera was pretty much useless unless, like in Grill Market, the food was under the one hanging lamp above our table. After all was said and done, we had our fill of salmon, herring, whale, and some inedible smoked lamb.
I’d read one time that restaurants with low lighting tend to do so to mask the food. Given the high marks Grill Market has gotten, I don’t think this is the case though I do have my suspicions. I didn’t get sick, anyway.
