Granted this is a lofty claim, but if the food was the only basis then it’s certainly well-deserved as the best breakfast in Budapest.
Sitting down for our first meal of the day, I already noticed a Secret Service-type man by the doorway right next to us. He was speaking through a microphone in his hand, much like in every White House movie I’d seen. After he’d finished talking, a rotund, important-looking man came out from the back room and was led away by his entourage. Probably just another regular morning at Déryné Bisztro.
The bourgeois in me loved the atmosphere inside – the place was pretty to look at and the fact that there was some history surrounding the building it was in. The restaurant itself is going to be a century old next year and if the clientele’s any indication, it’s going to be an interesting party. Pretty sure there’ll be a lot of champagne flowing when that time comes, and it certainly won’t just be for the Secret Service guys.
