My daily work commute more often than not brings me to the Dam, behind the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), where while waiting for my number 17 tram, am for certain face-to-face with the Dutch king’s royal visage.
I don’t know why his inauguration poster is still on display when the troonswisseling (throne change, literally) happened close to two months ago but my guess is there’s an exhibit about the torch-passing going on in the church. If that turns out to be true, they’re certainly milking it as much as they can, aren’t they. I suppose it is a once-in-a-lifetime event so it’s somewhat understandable.
He does remind me of a young Santa Claus though.
