Ever since we moved in, we’ve lived with our flat’s plain, white walls and thought nothing of it. In our first few months, there was talk of putting some color on the walls but it never progressed for lack of interest, coupled with indecision over what to paint. Our priority in the beginning was filling in empty spaces, which even for a small apartment was actually a lot, then only recently followed by upgrading our cheap-looking lighting fixtures. Slowly but surely, we were de-IKEAnizing our living space.
A couple of weekends ago, we progressed to serious discussion over what to paint, starting with a portion of the entry hallway. Satisfied with the results, we now focused on the bedroom this past weekend. I have to admit, when we first started I couldn’t imagine well enough how it would look with the color we decided. Happily, our instincts weren’t too off.
It was now out with the hospital-like environs…
And in with the Vibrant Red courtesy of Gamma, the Dutch version of Home Depot. We’ve already spent the night with it, and contrary to what studies say about red in the bedroom, we slept quite well, thank you. It’s not perfect but for amateurs I thought we did quite well. Amazing what a coat of paint can do.
