Someone thought it would be a good idea to make a life-size image of the Netherlands’ most famous painting.
Say hello to the 1600s. The Night Watch was painted by Rembrandt and now it hangs in the Rijksmuseum. It’s the most important painting in their collection. And it’s huge.
To convert a two-dimensional painting to 3D, to sculpt it in bronze and to see the final product is amazing. This can’t have been cheap.
Close up it’s clearly high-quality work. Love how public art is part of normal life over here, how it’s so accessible. The sculptures are only here temporarily so it was nice to see them up close and personal, apart from the bird poop, of course.
