Tropen Museum Amsterdam

Despite the awful, gray weather, we ventured out to the Tropen museum and saw the most unexpected sight?

An honest to goodness Philippine jeepney! It seemed to appear out of thin air. Surrounding it were murals and Tagalog signs lit up. To suddenly see this in a museum exhibit was a total surprise and made the impromptu visit to the Tropen well worth it.

Of course, someone had to try out the driver’s seat.

They had a replica of a local variety store complete with the requisite mini-sachets of shampoo from brands I haven’t heard of in years.

They clearly haven’t upgraded to the new tourism slogan.

As I learned later, the jeepney and everything around it were part of a permanent exhibit under the People and Environment section. Wow, never even knew this was there. Amazing to have seen it.
