Stalpaert

So the meal that was supposed to be at the top floor of the Amsterdam Public Library ended up in the Maritime Museum’s in-house restaurant.
It was pretty.

When I saw they had ‘tortilla’ on the menu, I thought it would be interesting to find out how the Dutch interpret Mexican. It turned out to be a Spanish omelet.
Meanwhile, my partner got a Croque Amsterdam which sounded like a Dutch take on the French Croque Monsieur (basically a grilled ham and cheese) and true enough that was what it was but using Dutch ham.
Not only the museum was surprising but even the restaurant. Loved how the place and the food looked, and it actually tasted quite good. Definitely not the type of food served in the good old Galleon days.
