So far the best fried fish I’ve had ever.
After going around the Haringvliet a bit, our captain thought it a good idea to stop by nearby Stellendam for some seafood lunch. This was where the fishing boats from the North Sea would unload their catch. We parked the boat on an empty slot in the pier and walked over to Poisson Cuisine.
Poisson Cuisine looked more like a cafeteria than a fancy French restaurant but the food turned out to be a winner. We ordered the deep-fried fish with garlic dip and a raw seafood combo which from what I could tell had shrimp, salmon, herring (and two others I couldn’t figure out) over a bed of potato salad. Given how fresh it was, the price was amazingly affordable I couldn’t believe it. It was one of the best value meals I’ve had in a long while. The fried fish was huge, and the preparation was simple and straight to the point. It was delicious.
We needed to go back to the marina quickly in order to catch up with the lock schedule so lunch was a bit hurried. It was eat and run. If only this place was more accessible I’d probably be here every week. Don’t know if there’s a similar place in Amsterdam but will definitely try to find out.
