Architectural Dutch Bridge of the Day | Erasmusbrug

It isn’t often that a bridge becomes a city’s tourist attraction. When it opened in 1996, the Erasmusbrug or Erasmus Bridge became Rotterdam’s newest icon. It wasn’t long before it got the nickname ‘the Swan’.

The bridge links the north and south ends of the city. Rotterdam isn’t one of my favorites but it does hold some emotional sway since it was the city I landed on when first I came to the country. I just preferred a city with more architectural history. For Rotterdam though, which was absolutely bombed out in WW2, this bridge fits like a glove. A bridge to tomorrow.
